Custom Manufacturing Process Timeline
Step 1: Inquiry & Technical Evaluation (1-2 Days)
Upon receiving your custom requirements (drawings, specs, or material grades), our engineering team conducts a feasibility study, process selection, and provides an initial quote within 24-48 hours.
Step 2: Technical Drawing & Spec Confirmation (2-3 Days)
We align closely with you to finalize production drawings (2D/3D), tolerance limits, surface roughness, and mechanical properties. A technical agreement is signed by both parties.
Step 3: Prototyping & Sample Verification (7-15 Days)
Sample production varies by complexity (7-10 business days for sampling standard special-shaped tubes; 12-15 business days for sampling if custom tooling/molds are required). Samples are shipped with a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) for client approval.
Step 4: Bulk Production (20-30 Days)
Once the sample is approved, bulk production begins. We strictly adhere to technical routing sheets with on-site inspections at critical nodes. Standard lead time is 3-4 weeks, depending on volume.
Step 5: Full Quality Inspection & NDT (2-3 Days)
Finished products undergo 100% dimensional and visual checks, along with Eddy Current Testing (ET), Hydrostatic Testing, or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) as agreed, ensuring zero-defect delivery.
Step 6: Custom Packaging & Dispatch (1-2 Days)
Tube ends are capped for dust protection. Products are packed in reinforced woven bags, fumigation-free plywood crates, or iron racks to prevent moisture and transit damage before global dispatch.
The stages above cover the complete cycle from enquiry to dispatch; the FAQ's typical custom-order lead-time refers to the production window for standard orders, while drawing confirmation and sample verification are preparation stages before bulk production begins.
Standard Order vs. Custom Fabrication
| Aspect | Standard Order | Custom Fabrication |
|---|---|---|
| MOQ | Varies by product line | Typically 100-300 kg |
| Lead Time | 7-10 days (in-stock) | Production: 10-25 days after deposit Full cycle (inquiry to delivery): 33-55 days |
| Documentation | EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 | EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2, plus dimensional inspection report |
| Sample Required | No | Yes, for first-time custom specifications |
Sample & Tooling Fee Policy
Standard-spec samples — grades and dimensions already within our production range — are provided free of charge; you only cover the international courier cost. Custom specifications (non-standard alloys, special wall thickness, precision-drawn tolerances, or special end-forming) carry a fixed sampling/tooling fee, which is 100% deductible against your first bulk order once it reaches MOQ. Trial orders (100kg–2 tons) are priced on base material cost plus a small-batch changeover fee, not marked up arbitrarily.
Custom Fabrication Case Studies
Case 1: High-Precision Heavy-Wall Stainless Steel Tube for Heat Exchangers
Project Background: A chemical plant in South America required ASTM A213 TP316L tubes for high-pressure heat exchangers, demanding a strict wall thickness tolerance within ±5% (far tighter than standard specifications).
Solution: Utilizing a combined multi-pass cold rolling and cold drawing process, paired with intermediate stress-relief annealing, we successfully achieved ultra-precise wall-to-ID matching. The batch passed both third-party Ultrasonic and Hydrostatic testing seamlessly.

Case 2: Complex Special-Shaped Tube for Automotive Exhaust Systems
Project Background: An overseas automotive component tier-1 supplier required custom non-standard oval and multi-sided gradient shaped tubes made of SUS409L/304, requiring zero micro-cracks or wrinkling at the bending radius.
Solution: We designed and developed dedicated combined forming dies, precisely controlled the online welding heat input, and applied post-weld precision cold drawing. This ensured excellent stream-lined cross-sections and mechanical strength, perfectly matching the tolerance required by the client's robotic welding arms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order quantity for custom fabrication?
MOQ is typically 100-300 kg depending on product type. Smaller trial orders can be discussed for first-time custom specifications.
How long does a custom fabrication project take from inquiry to delivery?
The full cycle from initial inquiry to dispatch typically runs 33-55 days across the six stages above. Once a sample is approved, bulk production itself is usually completed within 10-25 days after deposit.
What documentation is provided with custom fabrication orders?
We provide EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 Mill Test Certificates with every batch, along with dimensional inspection reports confirming the finished parts meet the agreed specification.
What grades are available for custom fabrication?
Common grades include 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321 and Duplex, depending on the specific product line. Confirm grade availability against the relevant product page or with our team.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept T/T, L/C and Western Union.
